It's that time of the year again! You need to find a book that you will enjoy, have it approved by me, and read it by early April. Make sure to take the time to find a book that intrigues YOU; as cheesy as it sounds, there is a book out there waiting for you that could change your life. Use this post to: a) share recommended book titles and authors with your peers b) declare the book title and author you have chosen.

ReplyDeleteThe Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book EVER & Fast Food Nation was amazing.I loved all the info in FFN, especially the part about the man falling into the meat grinder. Happy meals are just so innocent!
I think Fast Food Nation should be the next book for one school, one book. Maybe it can just be on the reading list or something because everyone NEEDS to read it and learn what they're really eating!
The Wedding By Nicholas Sparks...he is also the author of the Notebook..which was also an excellent book.

ReplyDeleteProzac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel. One of my personal favorites was Crank by Ellen Hopkins. Personally i enjoy books that deal with topics of drug use and unmoral lifestyles. Crank is just that based upon a teenage girl who takes a vacation to Florida and comes home as an addict of crack and various other drugs.

ReplyDeleteStraight Edge: Clean living youth, Punk, Hardcore and Social Change. by Ross Haenfler... is a biography on straight edge,its origin and how the hardcore scene developed from the 1970's to present time.
Basically anything by Steven King is amazing especially Cell, Misery, and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. Also anything by Dean Koontz is great. I am reading Watchers by Dean Koontz.

I am reading 21:Brining Down the House which is about MTI students who count cards in blackjack. I enjoy card games so I figured I would like this book. Plus I have wanted to read it for awhile but I dont read books that are not assigned by a teacher often because I have a busy schedule.

I am reading Xenocide by Orson Scott Card. It is the third book in the Ender's Game quartet. It is cool. I can reads it real fast. I like it.

Well, originally I was reading "Last Train to Memphis," I'm not quite sure who it's by, but it is a biography on Elvis Presley. I plan on continuing to read it, but I know that I will not have enough time to finish it. So, in the mean while I'm also reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. I haven't actually started reading it yet, but Mr. Kefor keeps talking about how great of a book it is, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.

Jodi Picoult has written many excellent books including the popular, My Sisters Keeper and The Pact. She touches upon some very deep subjects in her books. For my outside reading book I will be reading The Tenth Circle which deals with the struggle of rage and date rape.
