Survival of the Fittest?
Surviving alone on an island can come down to who is either the strongest or the smartest. Charles Darwin implied the theory of “Survival of the Fittest”. It basically means only the strongest would survive. Adolescents were stronger, self dependent, and mentally tougher.
Children of the mid 20th century were stronger than a child from 2010. Children were stronger because they were offered job opportunities as early as ages 9 to 12, so they got stronger from the work they were doing. Most kids worked on farms so they were hauling heavy things back and forth. Way back when, kids were more self dependent because they probably didn’t have much parental supervision which would cause them to look out for themselves. They could also probably cook for themselves on an island because they are so self independent. How mentally tough are you? Teens back then wouldn’t cry over something stupid like stub their toe. They are just overall tougher.
Being strong, self independent and mentally tough are huge necessities for surviving on an island. There is no way a teen from2010 would survive over a teen from the mid 20th century. The more equipped group of kids would have to be the kids from back in the day without a doubt.
