Interdisciplinary Arts: Tuesday

Part 1: By the end of the period, produce a response (as a comment here) that includes a discussion of the various art and artists you peruse today (the 3 linked below).

Check out Julian Beever and Kurt Wenner, two artists whose choice of media includes sidewalk chalk.
It would be difficult to find a more impressive modern sculptor than Kris Kuksi. Click here.

Looking at the art work from all three of the artists they all were so impressive. I think Kris Kuksi does an outstanding job when it comes to sculpting and I have never seen anything like it before. The way he gets into such detail on sculpting is crazy just like how he makes the huge figures of people. I enjoyed looking at the sculptures of the people at a huge size the most because i think those must had taken such a long time. I really liked seeing Juilian and Kurts street paintings however because the way they get into it and make it look as if there are actually holes in the ground is amazing. I also liked the way they painted too it was very nice and some things actually looked realistic and were coming at you.

1. How many windows are in Andrew Wyeth's "Master Bedroom"? What medium does Wyeth use?
-One window is in the photo and the medium used is paint and egg tempera
3. What pachyderm is distorted in the background of Salvador Dali's "One Second Before Awakening from a Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate"?
- Elephant
4. What time is it in Vincent van Gogh's "Night Cafe"?
- 3 O’Clock
5. Monet and Manet are both Impressionists and have similarities beyond their names. Compare and contrast these two artists.
- Manet preferred to paint people over landscapes. Monet also painted in series, while Manet did not.
6. Who is Camille Claudel? Examine her "L'Age Mur" and identify the 3 figures depicted.

- She was a graphic artist and a sculptor. “L’Age Mur” depicts a man, a woman, and a incubus.

The work of these three artists is incredible. I couldn't stop looking at the paintings and sculptures. Each one is so detailed and realistic. All of the 3D drawings done on the ground by Juilian and Kurt are ridiculous. I had to try very hard to remind myself that these paintings are on the solid ground and that the ground isn't actually open and full of people. To be able to draw something like this is amazing. Kris Kuksi's sculptures are also mind blowing. To even be able to think of all the little intricate details to put in them, never mind to actually put them into a work of art is incredible. Thanks for sharing these with me, these blew my mind Kefor.

1. “Master Bedroom” has one window present. He painted this picture using egg tempera.
2. The figure in the boat is Charon who is ferrying the damned into hell.
4. It is five minutes past 12 in “Night CafĂ©.”
9. The gorilla is made of coat hangers.
10. My favorite sculpture of his is one entitled “ghost.” It is a giant sculpture of a teenage girl in a leotard or bathing suit who is looking uncomfortable and maybe depressed. It seems as if she doesn’t feel comfortable in her own skin as many teenagers feel. This one had more meaning to me than the rest because I could relate to a teenage girl more easily than a giant foot or old man, although all his sculptures are incredible.
