This assignment requires you to: a) examine and understand the use of ethos, pathos, and logos to defend claims, b) peruse and understand existing lists of credible top song lists and c) compose and defend your own list of top songs. Next week, you will share the audio and annotated lyric versions of your top pick.

2. First, utilize several Bolean operators to peruse existing list of "top" or "best" "song" or "songwriters." Defend your selection for the most substantiated list (25 min.) Start here.
3. Develop your own "countdown style" list. Defend each claim with ethos, pathos, and logos.

On your day, you must have a playable version of your top track, copies of annotated lyrics (30) and a prepared defense including ethos, pathos, and logos. If you find yourself with extra time, begin to develop this or turn your attention to your fiction draft (due Thursday as hard copy for peer editing). Your teacher and your peers will evaluate your persuasion for a double quiz grade.

I think that the “Top 100: Greatest Songs of all Time” by the website In Stash is the most substantial list because it considers a wide variety of variables before creating the list, and has a wide variety of songs and artists. The site takes the artist themselves in to account, the lyrics, how many times the song was covered and the success of the covering artists, the songs former and current status on the top charts, as well as sales of the song. Each of the 100 songs have both the lyrics analyzed and summarized, and the reason for the song’s placement on the list is defined as well. Due to its reasoning of each song’s placement, interpretation of the lyrics, and all of the variables that were considered causes this top 100 songs of all times list to be the most substantial in my opinion.

The presented by The Rolling Stone’s readers is reasonable due to the sheer classicism of its artists selected in their spots. Each selection gives a brief description of their respective artists’ lives. The range from Bob Dylan to the Beatles is quite interesting as it tends to stick around the same era of music. It defines a generation in its listing and its impact on the people of today. It’s basic and familiar collection of names makes it appeal to many. There are no obscurities here.

I believe the most substantiated list is the Rolling Stones Top Ten Songwriters of All Time. Unlike most of the others, the Rolling Stones list asked its readers to pick the top ten songwriters. Based on their feedback, the top ten list was created. Along with the list, there is clear evidence as to why each songwriter was chosen. Many of the other websites had little or no evidence at all. The Rolling Stones website explained in detail the reasons for each songwriter’s success.
