Speaker- John McCain
Thesis- Believe in honor, faith, and service no matter the circumstances.
Structure- Tells story on his honor then follows with a story involving the faith he had as a PoW in Vietnam, and his dedication to the service.
Relation to speaker- Very humble and honorable

Speaker- Joel Boutin
Thesis- Having less is more
Structure- Talks about his start at life back in the US from his return of Peace Corps to be “plastic” and phony. Delivers a great feel to the reader of his enjoyable simplistic life.
Relation to speaker- Great listen about how having less can be more valuable than more.

Speaker- Alan Rabinowitz
Thesis- Stuttering is not a disability; people cannot see eye to eye with people that stutter
Structure- Strong delivery of his childhood growing up in school dealing with stuttering. Humans cannot accept him but his pets could let him speak whenever and however he wanted.
Relation to speaker- Still to this day some people believe stuttering is a disability and view people with it very poorly.

1. Author/speaker
A:Man and Beast Alan Robinowitz

2. Crux or thesis statement
B: That he was removed from society due to having a disability growing up.
3. 3 Observations regarding style, structure or other storytelling elements

A: He could talk to animals normally B: Nobody understands how to help him out other than remove him from people C: That his parents sent him away to a school to help him get to control his stutter.

4. His Attitude towards life is being grateful. Also he just tries so hard to control his stutter . That this life changed forever after what his father did for him when he got send away to a place to control his stutter. How he went on trips and explored the world and be independent for once. Was going to chase cougars and captured them but this was his goal to do this. There were things in the way of him but he wanted to overcome his struggles and be happy. I found this story inspirational to know people are different and can do whatever they want with a little hard work.

5 I would give this story a 10 because his man was so brave and had so much courage to do what he did and overcome the struggle that he had to face in his younger years.

“Man and Beast”
The speaker of the story is a man who grew up with a stutter and had to learn to cope; Alan Rabinowitz.
The crux is that he grew up with a severe stutter and had to learn how to cope and learn how to not let the people around him stop him from speaking more fluently.
He flows through topics and moves along his story very smoothly and uses his words to express his emotions more prominently.
I think that the story is very heart wrenching. He tells a story about how sad and miserable he was as a child, and how no one accepted him. He tells about how much work it took for him to become a fluent speaker, and after 20 years he could finally express all of the words that he couldn’t speak through words. Towards the end of the story, he tells more about how exciting life his became, and how he finally became comfortable doing something.

Statements

Elvia Botista
Thesis: bad things that happen can bring out even better qualities
This story is all grieving and coming back from, it's got a comforting tone
I like this statement i think it's very true

Stories

Matthew dicks - stung
The theme is kind of sad yet portrays the idea that it is a part of life
This guy does a good job of making you feel sad, and he depicts it in a great detail by detail manner. In relation to the story my attitude is serious because this story has a meaning that is important.
Alan Rabinowitz - Man and Beast

This story is one that shows a true struggle of uprising since it is of a guy that overcomes an inability to speak. The overall theme of the whole stories is subtle and depicted colorfully. Even though it is a sad story at first that is what enables it to have genuine meaning. My attitude towards it is reasonable since it follows a somewhat cliche plot of struggle, the actual details seem very legit.

Thom Beers - Shot through the heart
About his work through his young adulthood and then his ungrateful event of a heart attack the speaker shows the crowd that he has what it takes to overcome even though he is scared. Its a simple story of having the will to live.

Connie Mudenda- A mother can't wait

Theme: Hiv test results for pregnant women.

Delivery: She seems confident telling the story, shares her thoughts bluntly, and is sure to exemplify the emotional impact the events that took place had on her and how she was influenced to be more empathetic in her occupation.
