Paul's Group:
This group was somewhat prepared when performing the play. The meaning of the play was different from the original play. I enjoyed some of the scences because they were entertianing to listen to. The other group members were talking while not presenting which made it hard to focus. The group was also in a cluster for some of the play and they weren't in the center when presenting. Overall, I enjoyed the context, but the performance could have been improved.

Hannah Chisholm's Group (School Modernization):

I really enjoyed the groups interpretation of the play and the scholastic spin they added to it, making it more realistic for the students in the class and gave them a better understanding of the play as a whole.

The second group that performed this play did a really good job. They were acting like they were at a school and it worked out very well. There were teachers in it, a jock, and other students as well. This group did a lot better than mine, in my opinion. But I give them a lot of props and hope they get a good grade that they deserve. - Colin Feeney

The play was very well acted and seemed as if the lines were practiced, although sometimes the acting was monotone. The comic spirit of the play was caused using "high school characters" such as a principal, teacher, bully and nerd that makes the play more relate able to the audience.

I actually liked your play, but it was kind of long. Maybe people could’ve listen through the entire thing if it hadn’t been that long. It was nice, that James helped out, eventually the group members could’ve tried to be a little more serious.

I liked how most of you kept up with the accents for the entire play, but it was very long. You did not have to modernize every single sentence, but I did like the different southern saying that you included. I think the accents and the terms, however much they added to the effect of the modernization, took away from the ability to understand what was actually going on.
Most of you didn't much ownership of your parts, but Amanda did pretty well.

I thought that the characterization was spot on with the original play. The plot and meaning was also successfully converted. I’m not sure if its intentional, but I really enjoyed Justin’s performance, which consisted of a very dry delivery juxtaposing sensuous and scandalous dialogue. For the amount of practice available, I thought that the play was well delivered overall, if a little monotonous. The new context was something interesting, I liked the way you guys integrated the play into it. Nice work over all.:)

The play was very well acted and thoroughly rehearsed, although sometimes the acting was monotone. The comic spirit was conveyed by using "high school characters" such as a principal, teacher, nerd and bully that makes the play more relate able to the audience. One can easily think of the characters as a member of your high school and make it more humorous to each person.

The group of girls (and one guy) did a really good job of modernizing Tartuffe. They fit the stereotypes to a tee, and represented the cliche version of High School. Their voices were extremely clear and punctual so there was little to no confusion in where the play was going. It was also the perfect length because it didn't end up dragging on, but instead it was concise and stayed within the actual plot of the play. Their humor was a bit sparse and mostly subtle, but it worked well for their performance.

The girls group modernized the play really well. They translated the entire play to a school setting and it made sense. As for the acting, the also handled that with ease. I think their interpretation of "Tartuffe" the play was funny. They rocked it!

This is for the group that went on Friday May 11th
The group was on task the entire time and they were completely focused. The plot of their story was good and related to the actual play. In a few parts I was confused because I was not abble to see all of the characters. They should of had it so we could see all of their names and what character they were playing. They should of spoke a little louder and made more eye contact with the audience. I like how on the nametags they informed who they were in modern times as well. Overall it was very good!

Solid performance! The material you guys managed to pack into the play was impressive.

Fry my hyde!! funny but far too long and not that good but funny.

Group 1: You all absolutely followed the story line very well. I thought you did a nice job althoulg sometimes I lost track of what was going on and it seemed that grouup members who weren't speaking were really distracted and carrying on other conversations. Maybe it was a little too long? I liked the hillbilly theme though! The dialogue was really funny!

The second group had a very good performance. The script was well-written and very detailed. The parts were split up evenly and everyone was involved. One critique I have is that they should have changed the names of the characters. It would have added more originality to the play.

For the group who performed on May 15th. I like how you modernized it to a gang like theme and how you integrated the play into that theme almost perfectly. You made it seem interesting. And I like how Cassie, when playing two people, kept switching her name tags to show who she was at that moment. Also how in parenthesis, you wrote who the original people in the play’s names were if you changed the name. Overall, good job!

Group 2:
Very original modernization of the play. Easy to understand. Everyone was equally involved. Everyone was very well spoken.

Kayla Lantos' Group (Biker Modernization):

Considering that this group filled in for another group and wasn't anticipating presenting today, they did very well. I liked that biker modernization and the dialogue to match it. The theme they chose isn't a very popular modernization, making it interesting to see how the group was going to play it out.

Kayla's Group:
The groups interpretation of the play was very creative, I would have never thought to translate it into a bikers theme. The overall performance was a little lackluster. There was little to no enthusiasm. Also, it was a little confusing when people acted out two different parts right after another without changing their position or voice. On the other hand, the group's translation of each line was really good. For example, Cassie's description of Tyler (Tartuffe) made perfect sense to both the original play and to their interpretaion. Overall, it was a good job.

Group 2:
Original modernization of the play. Everyone seemed involved. The dialouge was easy to understand.

Ali H Comic Spirit said...

This third group did very well with their modernization. I really liked how they interpreted the play as people in a gang and Tyler being an undercover cop. Peter did very well with his characters but he didn't follow through with the accent. Most of them really owned their characters and Cassie Scanlon's indifference helped her portray her characters really well. The swears usually helped out the dialogue, but sometimes they took it a little too far.

Group 3:
Creative modernization of the play. Very easy to understand. Everyone was equally involved. Original name changes.

I really appreciate this group going today because my group was missing a person. They modernized Tartuffe well. The Biker idea was a novel one indeed. The play wasnt too long, and they did well with the script. Peter had a great accent as well.

James Keating said...

Peter Le's group's performance was very well done. They all read their parts nice and clear so the audience could understand. Also, they shortened the play too so it didnt take all class like my group did. One critique was the choice of language used. Some of it seemed uncalled for or unneccesary.

Cassie Scanlans group did a really good job. How ever they could have not said as many swears. they did swear more than a few times but i didnt really mind. Overall this group did a fantastic job and they performed it very well. Good job guys! -Colin Feeney

Group 3: I think they did a really good job. Their idea was really funny and it was well-converted. They really understood the meaning of the play and knew how to make it into a funny biker gang. Most of them got into it. It seemed really well-rehearsed and funny. I really enjoyed watching it. I think that both of the Cassie’s did a really good job getting into their characters. All of the characters were really well distributed.

Samantha G said...

Group 1: I think the idea was really well and you guys did a good job staying in character and keeping the accent the whole time. It was really funny but the laughing from the actors was a bit excessive. Sometimes it was hard to understand what was going on because of the laughter and the accents but overall it was a good play. You guys did a really good job converting it and kept the meaning of the play but it just could have been a bit shorter.

This group had a great modernization! The vocabulary was thoughtful and everyone remained in character the whole time. It was clear that they took this entire project very seriously. I really liked that they had the names of the characters on their nametags both from the modernization and the originals from the play so that we’d know who is who. It was also nice that they actually got ‘off the stage’ when their characters were not in the scene. Overall, it was a fantastic performance.
Kendyl, Cassie, Cassie, Peter, Kayla, Eric

Group 4
Very funny! I liked how this group actually had stage directions and acted out what was going on in the script rather than simply reading it. The acting actually wasn’t bad! All of what was going on was also quite accurate to the original play. Overall, I’d say they did a fantastic job and got a bunch of laughs from the audience.

group 4: this was by far my favorite group to perform. bassically the whole time i had a smile on his face. i really liked how scott made himself have a really big butt just like she does in real life. the ending of this play started falling apart but it was still funny! good job boys.

Ashley said...

For Group 4: You did an overall good job in translating the play into the kardashians, but at some points you could have modernized the parts better, instead of consistently switching from lamar being their dad and then to being the brother in law. It was really funny though. Most of you did really good job acting! And Scott did a really good job from switching his roles. Maybe it should have been more school appropriate though. Pretty good job though!

Cassie H. said...

Last group: The names and relations were sometimes inconsistant. Seemed like the connection was strong. So was some of the language. Started out school appropriate, but you might's wanted it to stay that way. It was very funny, nonetheless, and the characters were well preformed by all group members!

Scott Coleman's Group (Kardashian Modernization):

I really enjoyed this groups take on the play, by converting it to something to popular to this generation, a family that everyone knows, made it really funny yet still paralleled the play pretty closely. I think the group met the standards of this project because of the comedic effect that they left on the class during the performance.

Peter Le said...

Connor, Scott, Sam, Stephen had excellent delivery of their lines. Excellent interpretation of dialogue. Sometimes would revert to very formal tone that is incongruent to interpretation. Irony and corny puns are a nice touch. Shady censorship. Excellent use of props, especially by Scott and Stephen. Group knows how to push its limits. Terrific execution for the amount of practice they had. Audience is very engaged most, which is a nice sign. Mr. Kefor was terrified. “Wow”.

I thought the group that went today was very entertaining. Their modernization of the play was very very funny and it made me laugh.I thought everyone was characterized well and they all did a good job at playing their parts.

The Kardashian group made a very humorous modernization. The choice of characters was perfect because everyone knows who they Kardashians are, and the meaning was uncovered. Everyone owned their characters pretty well, but they oculd have known their lines and positions better. At times the dialogue distracted the group and they got out of character for a second, but most of the time they did good. Very funny!

Group 4-Amelia M. feedback

-Good theme and context
-All of the group members were on task
-Had some original meaning of the play, but context was different
-Funny scenes made the play funny and interesting to watch
-Group members got into character
-Some parts were confusing to follow
-I enjoyed most of the scenes
-Batman didn’t really have anything to do with the play
-Good job overall

Scott's Group:
This groups performance was solid. They consistantly kept everyone laughing. The Kardashian family was a very good choice of an adaption of the play. One critique was the language they used. Stefen portrayed Lamar Odom very well.

Group 4: Really great idea, it’s really funny but still followed the actual play really well. You guys really understood the original play and converted into the modern form. Everyone stayed in character really well for the most part. It seemed pretty well rehearsed. You guys really got into the actual staging and acting. It probably could have been a bit more school appropriate but it was still really funny. Great job guys!
